Databooks

JAI’s Databooks provide essential information to health policymakers to assist clients in every phase of program concept, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The Databooks are based on JAI’s integrated Medicare-Medicaid database, are comprehensive in nature, and include detailed descriptive and analytical tables that are based on the underlying databases prepared and developed by JAI. Because of the flexible and robust nature of its databases, JAI is able to customize Databooks to the needs of its clients and their project.

JAI has created Databooks (and corresponding databases) for over 14 states across the country. In general, Databooks contain the following tables:

  • State profile of the state’s Medicare beneficiaries, including Medicare only and Medicare-Medicaid dually-eligible beneficiaries
  • Settings of care – comparisons across community, community long-term care, Institutional long-term care
  • Managed-care status
  • Special interest dually-eligible populations, mortality rates, new Medicaid entries, new nursing home entries, spend-down members, urban/rural members, persistent home health and dually eligible members who are eligible for the Medicaid Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) waiver program
  • Disease and prevalence, and cost and utilization.

Databook on the Children’s Health Insurance Program
JAI conducts a detailed analysis to assess the similarities and differences between the general Medicaid program and the Children’s Health Insurance Program in order to determine the feasibility of integrating some of the administrative functions of the two programs. JAI produces a series of comparative profiles to identify similarities and differences in demographics, disease levels, benefit types, and rates of utilization between the populations in the two programs.
